trouble with Ubuntu 10.04 : the top menu bar disappeared

Jean-Marc Vanel-2
Hi

The title says it all .
This is annoying, because several features , like table of contents generation, are only available through this top menu.
This is of course with Amaya 13.3.1 .

% uname -a
Linux jmv-desktop 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Is this Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty?)

Yes, sorry for the typo.

Does the menu bar come back when you
turn off Unity?

What I have is the old gnome interface.

What I have is the old gnome interface.

I installed Unity ( I didn't have because I upgraded Ubuntu from preceding version) , and now I have the Amaya menu bar.
Thanks for pointing me to Unity !

I see that the menu appears only when the mouse goes in the upper right of the window, so maybe moving the mouse in gnome also is the trick.

I found the recipe to recover the top menu bar with Ubuntu 11.04
Classic ( i.e. Gnome ) : launch like this :

UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= amaya &

Thanks Jean-MArc

I had exactly the same problem. Na d you solved it.

By the way, do you know hot to make the top menu bar permanently visible (always with the Classic interface)?

I mean without launching it by UBUNTU_"MENUPROXY= amaya &" each time.

This problems seem weird. Maybe developers were focusing in the Unity case.

Thanks again !!
