XML encrytion

Taylor, Allen L CTR US USA IMCOM
To whom it may concern,

I am a DoD contractor, and I'm trying to configure the Solarwinds
Orion Network Configuration Manager Website FIPS compliant. Going the
web.config file I saw that for the encryption it points back to your web
site. What I was wondering is if it needs to get the encryption info form a
file on your site. I'm on a closed network and cannot access the internet.
If there is a file it needs to see is there a way that I can put that file
on the physical system and point the configs file to it. Any information you
can provide is greatly appreciated I do not know too much about XML configs
files just kind of learning as I go. Thank you for your time.

I'm not sure what the Solarwinds Orion Network Configuration Manager
is, but you're probably referring to the URL for the XML Schema
Definition (XSD) file of the XML Encryption name-space, which the
application may be downloading dynamically to validate XML Encryption
documents.

Yes, you can store a local copy of the XSD file and let the application
know that you have a local copy for validation.  The w3schools.com
website provides gentle introductions to XML, name-spaces and schemas -
which you will need to understand - to modify the application's
configuration.

Alternatively, you could just ask the developers of the application
for a configuration file that uses local XSD files, as opposed to
getting them from the internet.

Hope that helps.
