PNG specification

sally-21

Dear Friends,

Today I found a very interesting document – Portable Network Graphics Specification, Version 1.2. This document is the official revision on PNG Specification, version 1.0 and defines the Internet Media Type "image/png".

The PNG specification is on a standards track under the purview of ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 24/ It is supposed to be released eventually as ISO/IEC International Standard 15948. The paper describes PNG (Portable Network Graphics) format which is an extensible file format for the lossless, portable, well-compressed storage of raster images. PNG provides a patent-free replacement for GIF and can also replace many common uses of TIFF.

If you would like to read the whole specification, please visit http://pmt.sourceforge.net/specs/png-1.2-pdg.html .

It is available and free.

Best Regards,
