Call for bids to host ISWC 2014

Natasha Noy
Initial Statements of Interest sought for
Hosting the 13th International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC 2014)

Deadline = July 1, 2012.

The Semantic Web Science Association (SWSA) [1] is seeking statements of interest from organizations or consortia interested in hosting the 13th International Semantic Web  Conference, ISWC 2014.

The conference series usually moves regularly between the Americas, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific region. For the 2014 edition, we will accept bids from all locations, but we will give preference to the bids from the Europe. We expect the conference to take place in late October or early November 2014.

Organizations wishing to host ISWC 2014 should contact Dr. Natasha Noy ([hidden email]) who will work with the SWSA members who are co-ordinating the bidding process for ISWC 2014.

The process comprises two stages:

During the first stage, statements of interest are solicited through an open call. The relevant form is available at the SWSA web site [2].

Once the first phase is complete, SWSA will shortlist a number of applications, who will be invited to submit a full proposal, using the form and the budget template [4]. Representatives from the shortlisted bids will present their bids at the SWSA meeting in Boston on November, 12, 2012. SWSA will make the decision on the location of ISWC 2014 at that meeting.

More information about the ISWC Conference Series and the bidding process for hosting a conference in the series can be found in the ISWC Conference Guide [5].

The important dates for applying to host a Conference in 2014 are:

        • July 1, 2012: Deadline for receiving statements of interest
        • August 15, 2012: Notifications to shortlisted bids are sent out
        • October 29, 2012: Formal applications received from shortlisted bids
        • November 12, 2012: Presentation of the bid at the SWSA meeting in Boston
        • November 14, 2012: SWSA decides the location of the 2014 conference
