Adding a reference?

Eliot Graff

Can someone help me add a reference to biblio.js? I’ve never done it before and I’d hate to muck it up.

I’m hoping to add a reference to CSS Writing Modes Module Level 3 (http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css3-writing-modes/). I think that it’d look something like this:

"CSS3WRITINGMODES" : "Elika J. Etemad; Koji Ishii; Shinyu Murakami. <a href=\"http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css3-writing-modes\"><cite>CSS Writing Modes Module Level 3.</cite></a> 17 October 2010. W3C Editor's Draft. (Work in progress.) URL: <a href=\"http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css3-writing-modes\">http://dev.w3.org/csswg/css3-writing-modes</a> ",

Please let me know if that’s correct or if there are syntax errors, for future reference.

Thanks,

Eliot

Don't worry, if ever you muck it up you'll only break every single specification out there that's using ReSpec. But no pressure ;)

More seriously: it's happened before and we lived, and yes, we need to come up with a better system.

This looks entirely correct. Please insert it in its alphabetical location so that it's easy to find later. Afterwards load any random spec that uses ReSpec (e.g. http://dev.w3.org/2009/dap/contacts/) — if it ain't broke, you're good!

RE: Adding a reference?

Hmmm, I seem to have not broken the file (specs still load an appendix), and I see the entry in biblio.js, but I am getting an error for this source:

        ...for the definitions of inline direction and block flow direction. [[!CSS3WRITINGMODES]]

Error:

    * Got 1 tokens looking like a reference, not in biblio DB:
    * Bad ref: CSS3WRITINGMODES, count = 1

Is there a delay in this working or is there another issue?

Thanks,

Eliot

your browser is aggressively caching biblio.js.  if you clear your cache
and quit/restart the browser it should force a reload.

That is indeed the source of the issue, but clearing the cache and power cycling the browser is a bit brutal! The simplest is probably to navigate to the over-cached resource (in this case http://dev.w3.org/2009/dap/ReSpec.js/bibref/biblio.js) and hit reload there.
